چکیده

The Advanced Photon Source Upgrade (APS-U) Project at Argonne will include generation of short-pulse x-rays based on Zholents’ deflecting cavity scheme [1]. We have chosen superconducting (SC) cavities in order to have a continuous train of crabbed bunches and flexibility of operating modes. In collaboration with Jefferson Laboratory, we are prototyping and testing a number of single-cell deflecting cavities and associated auxiliary systems with promising initial results. In collaboration with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, we are working to develop state-of-the-art timing, synchronization, and differential rf phase stability systems that are required for the Advanced Photon Source (APS) Short Pulse X-ray (SPX). A collaboration with the Advanced Computations Department at Stanford Linear Accelerator Center is looking into simulations of complex, multi-cavity geometries with lowerand higherorder-modes waveguide dampers using ACE3P. This contribution provides the current R&D status of the SPX project.

Optical design of the Short Pulse Soft X-ray Spectroscopy beamline at the Advanced Photon Source

The Short Pulse X-ray facility planned for the Advanced Photon Source (APS) upgrade will provide two sectors with photon beams having picosecond pulse duration. The Short Pulse Soft X-ray Spectroscopy (SPSXS) beamline will cover the 150-2000 eV energy range using an APS bending magnet. SPSXS is designed to take full advantage of this new timing capability in addition to providing circular polar...

Optical design of the short pulse x-ray imaging and microscopy time-angle correlated diffraction beamline at the Advanced Photon Source.

The short pulse x-ray imaging and microscopy beamline is one of the two x-ray beamlines that will take full advantage of the short pulse x-ray source in the Advanced Photon Source (APS) upgrade. A horizontally diffracting double crystal monochromator which includes a sagittally focusing second crystal will collect most of the photons generated when the chirped electron beam traverses the undula...

Unfolding X-ray spectrum in the diagnostic range using the Monte Carlo Code MCNP5

Introduction: Unfolding X-ray spectrum is a powerful tool for quality control of X-ray tubes. Generally, the acquisition of the X-ray spectrum in diagnostic radiology departments is complicated and difficult due to high photon flux. Measurement of x ray spectra using radiation detectors could not be performed accurately, because of the pulse pile up. Therefore, indirect methods...

بررسی تابش کانالی از ‌بلور‌های الماس به منظور تهیه پرتو X تک انرژی درشتاب دهنده خطی الکترون ELBE

The measurements of electron Channeling Radiation (CR) have been performed at ELBE linear electron accelerator of the Forschungszentrum Dresden-Rossendorf. The aim of performing these experiments was to optimize radiation yield and spectral line width of CR in order to apply channeling radiation for preparing a monochromatic X-ray source. Diamond crystals can be used in relatively high electron...

Comparison of Bone Mineral Density Measured by Dual X-ray, Axial Dual-energy Photon X-ray Absorptiometry and Laser Absorptiometry of Calcaneus

The objective of this study was to validate the use of bone mineral measurements of the calcaneus bone by dual X-ray and laser (DXL) in a cross-sectional study carried out in an osteoporosis clinic. Measurements of bone mineral density (BMD) at proximal femur and spine were obtained by dual-energy photon X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA). Osteoporosis was defined by a DEXA T-score <-2.5 at the femora...
